Exceptional Wine Experiences: Seated tastings are held weekdays at 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and weekends at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Each of these popular tastings embraces a wide variety of topics geared to both the novice and those with broader knowledge. All are semi-private (limited to 12 guests total, 6 per party) and last 90 minutes.

If you are a Phelps Preferred member, your Phelps Preferred Membership entitles you to enjoy 4 complimentary tastings per visit, either in one of our four main Exceptional Wine Experiences or a Terrace Tasting (excludes the Limited Edition Wine & Cheese Pairing and Insignia Historical Tasting). Additional guests enjoy tasting our wines or attending an Exceptional Wine Experience at half-price.

Insignia Blending: Play winemaker for the day in our Insignia Blending seminar. Experiment with blending Insignia components, then taste and compare your blend with our current vintage. $75 per person.

Cabernet Sauvignon Barrel Aging: Explore winemaking in general and the specific place that the barrel holds in the development of a wine. In addition to the current releases, taste four barrel samples of our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. You will also experience twelve different aromas found in wines that are aged in barrels. $75 per person.

Napa Valley Rocks: This seminar covers the geological history of Northern California, the history of wine making in this area, and the Joseph Phelps' history. It explains why Napa Valley enjoys the unique and unrivalled climatic and soil conditions that produce world-renowned wines like Insignia. $75 per person.

Wine Aroma Challenge: Identify six white and six red wine aromas in the "Le Nez Aroma Identity" challenge and sharpen your ability to identify aromas in wine. $75 per person.

Wine & Cheese Pairing and Tasting

Offered every Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m., we host a complete guided wine tasting and pairing with 9 cheeses, nuts, fruits and other delicacies. Experience how food and wine interact in concert or contrast and discover your preferences. $75 per person, $37.50 for Phelps Preferred members and their guests.


 

Historical Insignia Vertical Tasting

By request, we offer an exclusive Historical Insignia Vertical Tasting, with a four-vintage vertical of our flagship wine, plus a historical vintage of Insignia. Our current line-up includes: 1996, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009 Insignia. $150 per person, $75 for Phelps Preferred members and their guests.

 

Please note: We are not able to seat latecomers in a seminar, so please plan to arrive early to check in at the reservation desk. Please do not wear perfume, lotions or cologne. The seminar setting is not appropriate for anyone under 21. We recommend the more casual Terrace Tasting if you are traveling with children.
